Well, Nokia is going to release something on October 22nd. They just won’t say what yet. On September 24th, the original cellphone powerhouse company subtly hinted via Twitter that an announcement of sorts, one involving the future, connections and innovation reinvented, is to be made next month at their Nokia World event in Abu Dhabi. We suspect they will announced the often rumored Nokia Lumia 1520.
With the internet’s attention turned to other notable releases from Apple, Samsung, and Microsoft, the rumor-mill for Nokia has been a bit slow as of late. However, recent rumors and photos backing the Nokia Lumia 1520 show it fully powered on with Live Tiles, in all 6 inches of diagonal-to-diagonal HD screen glory. Those paying attention have been abuzz about the Finnish tech company’s potential release, and are pointing to the October 22nd “leak” as the day the Galaxy Note II will officially be outdone…the day the world sees a 6″ smartphone.
The leaked photos come from a proposed Windows Phone developer (known as @Wot_Guo via Chinese social site Weibo), who suggests the 1520 will announced next month, with its initial launch coming a month later in November to AT&T. The rumored Nokia Lumia 1520 is also said to sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of ROM, and support for a MicroSD expansion. Not to be overlooked are the 20MP rear camera, and of course, the full-HD 6-inch display.
It is believed that the Nokia Lumia 1520 was originally slated for a September launch, but that was pushed back due to a deal with Microsoft to sell Nokia’s handset business and license patents. We’ll see if Nokia follows through October 22nd.
