LG H160 Windows 8 Tablet Price Specs and Video – CES 2013

The LG H160 Windows 8 Tablet was on display at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show (CES).  The LG H160, also known as the Tab-Book H160, features a spring-loaded, button activated sliding keyboard.  Other features include an Intel Atom processor, 11.6 inch display, 2GB of Ram, and Windows 8 compatibility.  See full specs below.

The LG H160 is sure to grab the attention of Windows 8 Tablet buyers that want to always have a keyboard available.  Since this device support Windows 8 and not Windows RT, you will also have the ability to run legacy apps developed for Windows 7, Windows Vista, and even Windows XP.  I think all Windows 8 compatible tablets should offer a keyboard dock or other keyboard add-on solution since most legacy apps will be unusable with just the touch screen.

Couple of things I don’t like about the LG H160.  The slider-keyboard makes the device heavy and thick.  The keyboard also does not include a track pad.  Sure, you can use the touch screen but I think hybird Windows Tablets should include a track pad or one of those Lenovo “pencil eraser” mouse pointers.  LG H160 Price and availability have yet to be announced.

LG H160 Windows 8 Tablet Price

In order to be competitive, I think the LG H160 Windows 8 Tablet price has to be in the $500 – $650.  Any more than that and one would have to seriously consider an Acer Iconia W700, especially if the price comes down a bit by the time the LG H160 is released.  There’s also several Intel Atom based tablets in this price range that have detachable keyboard docks that my provide a better tablet-only experience.

Of course, when we say LG, it is one of the best brands ever. Windows 8 should upgrade also and be more user-friendly to consumers.
