Questions: What is the iPhone screen resolution?  What is the iPad screen resolution?

If you are developing an app or a web pages for iPhone or iPad users, you need to know how many pixels you have available on the screen.

iPhone 5 Screen Resolution

The iPhone 5 Screen Resolution is 1136 x 640.  The 5th generation iPod Touch also has a resolution of 1136 x 640.  These iPhones have the Retina display.

The iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, and 4th generation iPod touch have a screen resolution of 960 x 640.

The original iPhone through the iPhone 3GS, as well as the first three generations of iPod Touch, all had a screen resolution of 480 x 320.

iPad Screen Resolution

The iPad screen resolution for the 3rd and 4th generation iPads is 2048 x 1536.  These iPads have the Retina display.

The iPad screen resolution for the 1st and 2nd generation iPads, as well as the iPad Mini is 1024 x 768.

How do I ensure that my web pages will work with all iPhones?

I would say that you should only develop web pages to support the iPhone 4 through the iPhone 5 (and the iPhone 6 and iPhone 7, when ever they come out 🙂 ).  The overwhelming majority of iPhone users will have a iPhone or greater.  Plus, the iPhone 3 screen resolution is so narrow that ensuring that all of your content at ads will show on it correct just isn’t worth the hassle in my opinion.
