Free Microsoft Office for Windows 8 tablets smaller than 10 inches

microsoft office windows 8 tablets

During the 2013 Computex keynote, Microsoft’s Tami Reller announced that future Intel based Windows 8 tablets will include Microsoft Office for free.  The applications that were mentioned included Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.  No word yet on whether other Office apps will be included.  Microsoft has since announced that the Office software will only be included for free with Windows 8 tablets that are 10 inches or smaller.

While “free is good”, I do wonder how much people will use Microsoft Office on such a small screen.  Perhaps most people will only use Office when they connect these tablets to a monitor and keyboard.  Look out for 9.99999″ Windows 8 tablets with docking stations coming to a Best Buy near you. 🙂
