CES 2014: LG shows off the LG Ultra PC

LG generally isn’t a name you think of when it comes to laptops, and they’ve yet to release a device that stands out. That may be about to change with the LG Ultra PC which was recently unveiled at CES 2014.

LG has put out some stylish smartphones, and their sleek design carries over to the LG Ultra PC. It weighs around 2.16 pounds and is only 13.6 millimeters thick which is pretty impressive considering it sports a 13.3-inch FHD IPS touchscreen display. Looking good is only half the battle though, as we’ve seen plenty of fancy laptops that where underwhelming when it came to performance.

Inside the slim laptop resides an Intel Core i5 Haswell processor which pairs up nicely with your choices of a 128GB or 256GB SSD. Rounding things out are 4GB of RAM, two USB 3.0 ports, and HDMI out. The LG Ultra PC also features a little something called Reader Mode. This will give folks the option to change the background of any onscreen image so that it will resemble actual paper. LG claims this will help energy consumption and cut back on eye-strain.

The LG Ultra PC is a sexy little laptop that certainly won’t cramp your style or break your back as it’s about as light as they get. That said, the price will be the deciding factor on this one and thus far LG has been mum on price and availability. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
